Ecommerce accounted for 6.3% of all Canadian retail sales in the last 12 months

• Canadian ecommerce sales saw a massive surge from previous years, fueled in part by lockdown measures, with retail sales up 83.6% year-over-year.
• This trend is expected to continue in 2021. In total, CA$39.5 million was made in ecommerce sales by Canadian businesses in the last 12 months, with $15.7 billion of that from brick and mortar retailers selling online.
• Important to note is that these statistics from Statistics Canada do not include purchases by Canadian consumers for foreign ecommerce purchases.
